Wolfe Park St. Louis Park, MN
Wolfe Park was the first phase of the City of St. Louis Park's new Town Center Master Plan. CLOSE Landscape Architecture+ was part of a charrette team retained to create a "Town Center" for this first ring suburb. We were then hired to work with a Task Force to complete the plans for Wolfe Park.
Wolfe Park's previously under-used open space has become the city's premier park. An amphitheater at the south edge of the park integrates the new town center with the park activity below. New stormwater treatment ponds have been built in the park to cleanse stormwater from the town center development and provide skating in the winter.
A new park building provides four season concessions, rentals and gathering space. New picnic shelters, children's play areas, an overlook, terrace and fishing dock were also constructed as part of the park plan. Planting design focused on Minnesota native plants and contribute to the park's secondary use as an outdoor classroom.
