Macalester College is an nationally acclaimed liberal arts institution embedded in an established Saint Paul community. With a focus on international recruitment, the school attracts students from around the world as well as from its immediate environs. The college places tremendous value on the quality of its architecture and campus open space.

CLOSE Landscape Architecture+ joined with Bruner/Cott and Offices N, both of Cambridge, Massachusetts, to develop a master plan for this compact, urban campus. The plan addresses campus growth and character as well as arrival and orientation, long standing issues with the school.

CLOSE continues to work with Macalester on a variety of site-specific designs for new buildings, existing plaza spaces, and landscape issues throughout the campus.
