Don has a diverse design background spanning projects that range from community master plans, urban infill and brownfield redevelopment, and corporate, cultural and institutional campuses to the refined, detailed design of intimate courtyards and private residences. His experience with CLOSE includes such projects as Midtown Exchange- an historic Sears site redevelopment, the historic Pillsbury A Mill riverfront redevelopment, the University of Minnesota Bell Museum of Natural History, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota- Minneapolis Campus, the Seward Community Co-Op, and Dow Courtyard, while his prior experience includes a performing arts campus and several private residences and memorials.
Complementing his professional work, Don has studied design in Denmark, Sweden and Finland and teaches design graphics and digital technologies to Graduate Students at the University of Minnesota College of Design, where he is also a regular Guest Critic for graduate design studios.
Don resides in South Minneapolis with his wife Stephanie and their german shepherd mix, Lucia, where he spends his free time playing club soccer, telemark skiing and cycling.
