Como Campus Master Plan Saint Paul, MN
Designed by H.S. Cleveland in 1889, Como Park's most recognized and best loved features are its Conservatory, Zoo, and Amusement Rides. These destination attractions draw 1.75 million visitors annually from every corner of the region. Although the Zoo, Conservatory, and Amusement Ride Area operated as independent entities, the proximity of these facilities to each other created common issues and needs, as well as a desire to share both human and financial resources. During a planning process with stakeholders, the idea of a campus was born.
CLOSE Landscape Architecture+ worked with a planning team to create a concept plan for the Campus with detailed recommendations for improvements and strategies to implement specific projects. The final document describes the concept plan and defines seven priority projects that will help the staff at Como move forward with fund-raising and construction. Ongoing projects, such as construction of the Visitor & Educational Resource Center are a direct result of the campus plan.
